The new Sky EPG, which will be rolled out in batches on all Sky HD Digiboxes is coming soon, and our sources suggest this will take place early November, as testing continues. We expect that everyone will know in advance, as instruction guides are due to arrive prior to launch, so everyone knows what they are doing!
The EPG so far from those testing has received mixed reports, with some suggestion a cleaner picture (in HD), with faster channel change, yet others are complaining of the number of button presses to access certain areas, as well as the inability to see what is still to be recorded on any particular day. Hopefully these bugs will be ironed out prior to release.

Does anybody no a date for this as i have seen posts about this new guide dated 2006 so people have been waiting a long time for this it seems to be getting old before we have even got it lol
Be good if someone from sky could give a correct date

Just seen the new EPG in operation, it is slightly better than the old one, although when compared to Tivo it is still appalling…..yes, Sky really still dont seem to have a clue
Latest date is 2009, so prepare for more waiting before the dissapointment hits home.

In reply to all your posts, i have recieved the new sky hd epg today, its a massive improvement on the old epg i like the tv in the corner of the screen as u dont have to disturb what your watching while you look what else is on, i like the recordings idea as well where they stack all the series and when you press record on a programme you want to watch there is a drop down box that asks you if you would like to record the series or just the programme. any new sky+hd subscribers should recieve a user guide/booklet though the post which should help you get to grips with it

I cannot believe the comments about the new EPG here.
It was forcefully downloaded onto our box last night without Sky asking whether we wanted it. What a complete pile of Sh*TE.
I can barely see the listings, the font size has been reduced, the colours have changed to make the background and foreground a similar colour, and it is ridiculously slow and difficult to use. I have also had the mysterious loss of signal that many others have complained of prior to this update which is probably no coincidence.
I have two questions:
1) Can I undo the upgrade and go back to the previous EPG?
2) What the hell do Sky think they are playing at downloading this crap onto my machine without asking??
Now going to phone Sky and ask them how to uninstall it, but don’t expect much response. In which case I’ll be downgrading to Sky+, I never thought HD was worth the extra money, and this is the final insult.

I have seen the new EPG being used on a family members sky box. I thought it looked great, much better than the present version.
I am now on the phone to sky to upgrade to sky HD, just so I can get the new EPG.
I was already considering the upgrade, and this has now convinced me.

‘Coming Soon’, ‘Coming by the end of Spring’. My ar$e Sky, what a load of rubbish. Amstrad and Samsung users STILL waiting and we’re well into Summer 2009. Sky is all about talk and not delivering, pay less on the ad campaigns and more on the development and promises to your customers!

We had the upgrade and then the box went faulty, the new one came a number of months ago and we are still waiting for the new EPG – are people still waiting?

had sky tv for 5 years had hd for 3 months and i dont think its that good got a top tv full spec pay over £900 year for a servise i still havent got my epg yet i live in manchester does anyone know how you get the update or do i have to wait for sky to sort it out.

Same story here as others. We had the new EPG on our old box, the box blew up and the replacement had the old guide…. still waiting for the new box to update. I have phone Sky on numerous occaisions and get fobbed off with the same old line… “just be patient, the box will update.” Apparently the updates happen by region and we just have to wait until our region comes arround again. We are on our third HD box and I am seriously considering telling Sky where they can stick their overpriced service!

We have always praised the old sky guide as easy to read now with the new guide there is too much information and the Text is too small for us.
Why do they do this, do they need to spend money for no good reason or just for a gimmicky software exercise. We should have been given a choice if we wanted the new guide or not.
Please give us the option to have the old guide i.e. old software standard.

I joined sky in July, got the new EPG pretty much straight away, had it about a month then my box blew up and the replacement didn’t have it and I’m still waiting nearly 4 months later. I am peeved as I was really enjoying the new layout and had just got used to it!!! Tried the back up forced download about a month ago and still nothing, was just trying it again while waiting for it to update. Has anyone recived the new EPG after having there box replaced?

All those who have said that HD TV is ‘not worth it’ must need their eyes tested. The difference, (if you have a 1080p TV, which you should) is startling. The wealth of additional picture detail, colour saturation and acutance is nothing less than a revolution in TV broadcasting, and it is the only reason I shall stay with SKY, at least, for a while. Otherwise, the SKY service is pretty poor, and this constant delay in upgrading the HD guide is just another example of their indifferent performance. The quality of the hardware could also do with improvement. Really, SKY, this new HD guide aint rocket science…get on with it!

Hi – we are waiting too – got the HD+ box in June, and nothing. Have rung CS and they said September – its now mid November! We are in the Bristol area. In laws in Devon have had it for about 6 months now. Grrrr!

Hi all, London here and just recieved the new EPG overnight so they must be rolling out now before christmas. Its on its way. I have the Amstrad box. Tuned in to ITV HD and not alot going on, I will wait till this evening.
